Maths critical • The decision to downgrade mathematics as a subject in the Competency-Based Curriculum shouldn’t go unchallenged, says David Yator. “This is not just another subject but a special one due to its foundational role in critical, reasoning and problem-solving learning, cutting across every career. The only problem is how some teachers handle it in class.” His contact is davidyator14@gmail.com.

Absurd threat • It’s quite absurd to threaten to close private hospitals that have suspended the Social Health Authority services over debts, says James Gakuo. “This is unacceptable. The National Health Insurance Fund had not paid the hospitals their dues when it was shut down. Can the Health authorities explain where this money has gone?” His email address is gakks2002@yahoo.com.

Matatu misconduct • The National Transport and Safety Authority should borrow a leaf from the aviation authorities in dealing with misconduct or accidents, says Richard Kihara. Alluding to the ban on Super Metro matatus, he adds: “You can’t ground an airline’s fleet because of an accident involving one aircraft. Deal with the culprits and let others do business.” His contact is rkihara7@gmail.com

Daring gang • There is a daring criminal gang in Ruaraka Constituency’s Mathare North, says Joseph Korir. “You can’t develop a plot or do any construction without paying hefty protection fees to the gang, whose members apparently don’t fear police. I reported to Muthaiga Police Station in January but no action was taken. We’re no longer safe.” His contact is josephkorirbfid@gmail.com.

Risky antics • The Safari Rally is a hugely popular event but the antics of fans, especially youth, are worrying, says Joseph Macharia. “As they try to emulate the daredevil expertise of rally drivers and motorbike riders, they should beware of the grave danger that can leave them and their families in endless agony. Let them enjoy themselves responsibly.” His contact is machariajoseph82@gmail.com.

Have a careful day, won’t you!
