Unless you are an idiot, you already know 2027 won’t be 2002 redux. I see, sadly, some of the same players from 2002 think 2027 will be a replay of 2002. I am sorry they don’t get it, but next year they will witness their own political death. An execution that will decapitate them from Kenyan politics. How do I know this? It’s because their behaviour and thinking have the signature of end-of-life spasms. Folks must know when to exit the political stage before their maker bids them goodbye. I have this warning – the dinosaurs will be sent packing with their minions. Even if those minions are in their 40s. Let me tell you why President William Ruto will eviscerate them.

Let me tell you why 2027 won’t be 2002. In that year, a monarch had been in power for 24 years. Daniel arap Moi, like Mzee Jomo Kenyatta before him, had been an unmitigated disaster for Kenya. Mr Moi, a barely educated villager who rose from the ruins of colonial vassalage, was a creature of fate. He wasn’t meant to be president, and wasn’t prepared for it.
