Agricultural firm Sasini has said it targets long-term sustainable business operations amid growing threats of climate change.
“Changing weather patterns are long-term shifts in global and regional climate, primarily driven by human activities like clearing forests for commercial interest and the burning of fossil fuels. This has caused global warming with the consequence of disrupting the delicate balance of the earth’s ecosystem,” said Sasini Group Managing Director Martin Ochieng.
“Conditions that once guided our decisions are shifting beneath us. This is the reality in which Sasini operates today.”

Latest disclosures by the company show that it achieved significant milestones in sustainability and climate action initiatives during the year.
These include achieving a 98.2 percent waste diversion rate through the recovery and beneficial use of organic by-products, including macadamia shells and coffee residues for renewable energy generation and composting.
The group also used renewable energy amounting to 16.81 percent of the total energy consumption, supported by two solar installations totalling 1.5 megawatts supplying 15-20 percent of the tea division’s electricity requirements.
