The nyama choma injustice that spoils our get-togethers

My tribesmen. This behaviour has got to stop because it has gone on for far too long. Besides, times have changed; therefore, it only makes sense that our habits follow suit. I know, I know, you’re wondering what I’m going on about. Indulge me for a minute or two to lay down the context.

Over the weekend, I was invited to a house-warming party somewhere in a village in Central Kenya. I’ve been to a total of two housewarming parties, which took place a couple of years ago; therefore, I was excited about this one. The house was beautiful, and the food was in plenty. And yes, there was a glorious stew of potatoes, carrots, peas and meat as you would expect of any self-respecting Murima bash. This stew is not a stereotype, by the way. I know because I grew up eating it, and have made it myself quite a few times…
