Actress Dorea Chege, who is widely known for her role as Naomi in the hit “Neema” TV series, is embarking on a new chapter in her life. Ten months ago, she and her fiancé, DJ Dibul, welcomed their first child, a milestone that has quietly but deeply transformed her world. Now, she says, nearly everything about her has changed. She had a candid conversation with Nation Lifestyle.
“I’ve been working on getting my figure back after having the baby. It hasn’t been an easy journey, especially since I haven’t gone back to the gym yet. I delivered via C-section, so I’ve had to give myself time to heal. For now, I’m focusing on what I can control, like watching what I eat — cutting out sugar and sweet foods — and keeping my carbohydrate intake low.
A lot has changed since I became a mother. I’ve grown more patient with life, with situations, even with myself — in ways I wasn’t before. Motherhood has unlocked a side of me I didn’t fully know existed. It’s shown me that I’m capable of loving much deeper than I ever imagined.

We’re not ready to show our child’s face to the world yet. I know it’s become a trend among some celebrities, but for us, the timing just doesn’t feel right. Maybe we’ll consider it in the future when we’re more comfortable, but for now, we want to keep that part of our lives private.
My advice to fellow women, and probably those I inspire, is this: have a baby only when you feel ready mentally, emotionally, and most importantly, financially. Because God forbid, that man decides to leave for any reason, you won’t find yourself stranded or unsure how to raise your child. It doesn’t matter what age you choose to have a baby; what matters are those three pillars in place—they make all the difference.
I’ve been a victim of cyberbullying many times, and when it comes to the ongoing debate about the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes (Amendment) Act, 2025, I honestly believe it should be passed. Right now, people have too much freedom to attack others online, even spreading false information, because they know there are no real consequences.

I understand that not everyone will like me, and that’s perfectly fine. But that shouldn’t give anyone the right to wake up one morning and attack me just because of their personal feelings. It’s unfair. Sometimes people even create fake stories with the aim of character assassination, often hiding behind anonymity, so you don’t even know who’s behind the attacks. These rumours don’t just hurt emotionally; they affect our brands. For some of us, brand endorsements are a main source of income. When false stories circulate, they can cost us opportunities and damage the work we’ve built over the years.
Dating a fellow celebrity isn’t easy — especially when the relationship is public. Everything boils down to trust and communication. Without that, it’s easy to lose your mind with all the rumours that come from living under constant scrutiny.
This year alone, I’ve faced many tests from stories about my fiancé. But through it all, I’ve realised how strong I am, having to face one allegation after another and still keep my peace and home.”
