Bilenge Music du Congo to stage special show in honour of Raila

Nairobi-based Bilenge Musica Du Congo band, led by Darzee Kalend, will dedicate their show tonight at the New Dream Village Bar, South B to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Darzee said of special interest is the song Baba Anakuja which they had earlier released in Odinga’s honour.

“We will particularly remember him for the encouragement and support he gave to the band,” Darzee said.

Bilenge Musica Du Congo is among the many groups that had been associated with Odinga, who is due to be laid to rest on Sunday in Bondo, Siaya County.

Darzee revealed that they are already planning to compose another tribute song for Odinga.

The band performs at New Dream Village Bar from Wednesday to Sunday every week.

In Nakuru, a major rhumba extravaganza is set to be held on Saturday at Dimples Club and Hotel. Patrons will enjoy the best of rhumba music by DJ Hussein Abdalla ‘Chatenga’, DJ Mdosi, DJ Karis and DJ Manje.

Besides rhumba music revelers will also be treated to Benga, soul, funk and country music. Also lined up will be a live performance by the Nexal Band. The show starts at 6pm until dawn.

Meanwhile, Ballpoint Social Club at Village Market at Gigiri will tonight host the Back to Rhumba show. This show will feature some of the rhumba hits by Les Wanyika band and Yaba.

The pre-Mashujaa Day event will also feature Lingala, Benga, Soukous and highlife music. Entrance is Sh1,500 (advance) and Sh2,000 (gate). The event starts at 6pm and end at dawn.

Elsewhere, next Friday, the Wine and Cheese will go down at Rosslyn Square Luxury Mall along Red Hill Road in Nairobi, an event where revellers will get the opportunity to sample the best wine and cheese.

At Egesa Villa in Nairobi Umoja's estate, Amitie Musica band, led by Crispen Tambwe, performs every Sunday from 7pm until dawn.

In Mtwapa, Club Legend 2.0 hosts Bango Nights every Wednesday. Shows feature performances by Jimmy Ngala backed by the Asili Band.

Elsewhere, next Saturday, it will be Halloween Carnival at the Village Market. The 30th Halloween celebration dubbed ‘Village Market Halloween Carnival’, will ‘Little Monsters Carnival’ for children and ‘Adults Monsters Ball’, which will be an adults’ food court party.

Entrance will be Sh1,500 (advance) and Sh2,000 at the gate.

Meanwhile, Clarett Barbecue N Picnic, on Thigiri Ridge Road in Nairobi, it will host the Afro Jazz Barbecue and Picnic show on October 26.
