Drama ensued at an airport in Nairobi when a vocal politician from a neighbouring country was deported upon landing. The man, who is a critic of the President of his country, was told that he is not welcome in Kenya as he had disparaged Nairobi in public forums and social media. He arrived in Nairobi early this week, and was cleared by immigration but was stopped by police, who informed him he was not welcome. He was travelling on a foreign passport though he also carried his diplomatic passport. The man had been in and out of Kenya many times and had unsuccessfully contested the presidency of his country.

Powerful son on bribe-taking spree

The son of a powerful devolved government official from Lower Eastern region has turned a hotel on Nairobi’s Mombasa Road into a “collection point” for kickbacks. The crooked young man, who bears a rather unique name, is said to have the final word on who gets lucrative county government contracts, who misses and whose pending bills will be paid – at a steep price. His conspicuous top-of-the range vehicle has become a common feature at the five-star hotel where he constantly receives millions of shillings in bribes with impunity.

Supporters of a football team are in shock after the value of a hyped deal turned out to be far smaller than expected. An official, who is known for courting attention, had amplified the deal, fuelling expectations of a breakthrough for the team. The anticipation rose when the launch was held at a top-end hotel with lavish hospitality for the guests. However, eyebrows were raised when the speakers avoided disclosing its value. It was only after the event ended that an official revealed the figures. Some joked that the amount spent on the launch exceeded the launch of the deal.

‘Lazy’ officer rejected by inner circle

A state officer whose fate has already been decided by powerful forces that he will not be retained in his role is frantically trying to get back into the fold. The man, who has been “lazy” in his current position angered powerful forces, who vowed not to retain him after the 2027 polls. He is accused of never participating in the empowerment programmes or advancing government agenda. The man, however, showed up late in the recent by-elections and campaigned for a candidate who won. He wants to use that as a bait to get back to the fold but the request is falling on deaf ears.

MP makes U-turn on strategy

An MP from Western Kenya has dramatically shifted course after accusing senior politicians of misleading him into a politically costly confrontation with the county’s leadership. The lawmaker says he was drawn into the dispute on the promise of solid government backing, an assurance he claims never materialised. The fallout left him isolated and exposed, forcing him to rethink his political plans. The MP has since reconciled with his governor, describing the earlier standoff as a case of misdirection rather than genuine policy disagreement.
