- Mr Musyoka said the Opposition is preparing a petition to contest UDA victories in Malava and Mbeere North.
- The Wiper Party leader also faulted IEBC for failing to conduct proper voter tallying in some contested areas.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed plans by the United Opposition to challenge the outcomes of Thursday's by-elections in Malava and Mbeere North constituencies in court.
Mr Musyoka claimed that the State assisted the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in rigging the by-elections through voter bribery, intimidation and direct voter suppression.
He said the opposition is preparing a petition to contest the victories of Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa and Mbeere North MP-elect Leonard wa Muthende.
"We know that many Kenyans, especially in Malava and Mbeere North, are bitter. They used the police, who collaborated with goons, to intimidate voters. We are going to deal with this. We also witnessed direct voter suppression. We are preparing a very strong and clear petition," Mr Musyoka said on Sunday at AIC Mukuni in Machakos County.
"William Ruto knows that UDA did not win in Malava and Mbeere North. We have evidence that he personally called police commanders in Mbeere North to ensure that Mr Muthende won. The whole world knows Ruto used every trick in the book to give the impression of victory. The truth is he lost."
Mbeere North UDA candidate Leo Muthende casts his vote at Siakago Social Hall in the Mbeere North by-election on November 27, 2025.
According to Musyoka, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) failed to conduct proper voter tallying in some contested areas.
"We will clearly indicate which ministers campaigned openly contrary to the constitution. We are looking at all these issues holistically. We are determined to make Ruto a one-term president who has proven unable to curb corruption," he added.
The Sunday service coincided with a celebration of Wiper’s Antony Kisoi, who won the Mumbuni North Ward by-election in Machakos County.
Kisoi secured 3,849 votes, ahead of Harrison Wambua of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, who garnered 2,776 votes, while UDA’s Misi Mutua came third with 809 votes.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti praised the Wiper leader for the victory in Mumbuni North, noting that it bolstered Musyoka’s standing ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
"If Wiper had lost the Mumbuni North Ward seat, I would have been mocked everywhere. What you have done here shows God is guiding us. Nothing stops us. Community goodwill is guaranteed, and we have no problem with our competitors," Musyoka said.
He further noted that the ruling party’s poor performance in Mumbuni North, despite President Ruto’s recent visits and infrastructure projects in the region, indicates that the Head of State is unwelcome in Ukambani.
