Leaders pay glowing tributes to late MP Johana Ng'eno

Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng'eno who died in the Nandi North helicopter crash on Saturday has been described as a steadfast, focused, selfless, vocal and fearless leader, who stood firmly for justice and equity for all.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen described Mr Ng'eno as a leader who represented his constituents with passion and courage and always spoke his mind without fear.
“He was instrumental in empowerment programmes across the country, particularly for artistes, a course he pursued to the very end,” Mr Murkomen said.
Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot said the fallen MP gave all to his constituents and the country.
“He was a devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County. Particularly, he will be remembered for the tangible progress achieved under his leadership and his exemplary commitment to promoting local talent, especially in music," Cheruiyot said.
"This news has hit hard and it will be a long time before we fully get to comprehend this. My thoughts and prayers go to his young family at this time of extreme difficulty," he added.
Judicial Service Commission Vice chairman Isaac Ruto said the late Ng'eno was a fearless leader who never hesitated to stand tall in defense of the people he served.
“In moments when silence would have been convenient, he chose courage. When compromise would have been easier, he chose conviction. Through his efforts, countless local artists found platforms, mentorship and confidence to pursue their dreams at a time when many overlooked the creative arts,” said Ruto.
“His efforts to recognise the power of music and both cultural and treasure and economic opportunity went far beyond uplifting individuals to strengthening cultural identity and opening doors for the many young people who previously felt unrecognized," he added.

Governors Erick Mutai (Kericho) and Susan Kihika (Nakuru) said a giant had fallen and the Kipsigis community had lost a spokesperson.
"No words can express the depth of this loss. He was not only a friend, a brother to me, but also a political mentor who was always at hand to offer wise counsel on matters politics and governance," Dr Mutai said.
"He stood with me during my most difficult moments. My loss was his loss, and my gain was his gain. He was the only MP who attended my homecoming after the attempted impeachment, a true testament to his unwavering support," he added.
Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok stated that Mr Ng'eno would be remembered as a champion of the oppressed in the society and one who never shied away from speaking his mind irrespective of the situation.
Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei said the country had lost a strong pillar, a man of conviction and a servant whose impact will be felt for generations.
"His sharp with, and steadfast dedication will be remembered by colleagues across the political divide" Mr Sigei said and added "he championed policies aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding opportunities for Kenya," said Sigei.
Chepalungu MP Victor Koech said the departed legislator stood his ground and pursued what he believed even if it meant being boxed to a corner alone.
"He was a man of conviction, willing to stand alone if it meant defending the truth and the interest of his people" Mr Koech said.
Mr Koech, a first term MP said; "He walked with me as a mentor, sharing his wisdom and experiences both inside and outside Parliament. In him, I found not only a an advisor but also a senior brother whose counsel and encouragement strengthened my journey in leadership."
MPs Charity Kathambi Chepkwony (Njoro) and Richard Yegon (Bomet East) also described Ng'eno as a devoted servant of the people ,humble ,principled and unwavering in his commitment to public service.
"His leadership and compassion touched many lives , and his loss leaves a painful void in our nation and in the hearts of all who knew him. The region had lost a firebrand politician who stood for the rights of his people," stated Ms Kathambi.
"Here is a leader who pushed for the rights of the people he represented, the welfare of all Kenyans and never shied from making his stand known, however unpopular it was," she added.
