Police in Nairobi are investigating the suspected murder of 21-year-old Faruz Hussein, whose family says her boyfriend suffocated her with a pillow before sending them a video of the alleged killing.

The case was reported to Sunton Police Station in Kasarani on September 30, 2026, following the incident in the Githurai-Sunton area.

According to the family, Hussein died following a domestic dispute, and they learnt of the incident after the suspect allegedly sent them videos of the killing.

The family further alleges that the man threatened to kill Hussein’s younger sister, mother and 15-year-old brother, warning that he would wipe out the entire family.

Documents shared by the family, including an acknowledgement of the police report and a letter addressed to a mortuary superintendent, indicate that the death was reported as a suspected murder under Occurrence Book (OB) number 37.

The mortuary admission letter identifies Hussein as the deceased and states that her body was recovered from a house in the Githurai-Sunton area.

The case drew public attention over the weekend after former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko announced a reward on social media for credible information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

The alleged killing has sparked outrage online, with calls for swift police action. The family has also raised concerns over the safety of Hussein’s younger siblings following the reported threats.

Police investigations into the suspected murder and the alleged threats against the family are ongoing.
