Calls for the involvement of Winnie Odinga in the management of the daily affairs of the Orange Democratic Movement have intensified.
Following the conclusion of the ODM@ 20 celebrations in Mombasa, ODM party leader Dr Oburu Oginga has been asked to reach out to Winnie, even if it will take the party to create additional position for her.
According to Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa, Winnie, being the daughter to the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, will bring in fresh ideas to party.

“This is my opinion. ODM should create another deputy party leader position for Winnie Odinga. Let’s have four deputy part leaders and everything will be fine,” Mr Aladwa said on Sunday.

The MP, who is also the ODM Nairobi branch chairperson, said delegates from Nairobi will present the matter during the National Delegates Conference next year.
Mr Aladwa’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the party’s future after Winnie's recent claims that certain ODM officials were planning to sell the party.
Winnie also suggested that in the spirit of democracy, which was upheld by the late Prime Minister, the party should go back to the members to seek their mandate over the party’s leadership.
“We need to go back to the people and convene the National Delegates Conference to see who the people want to pick to manage the broad-based government relationship,” Winnie said in Mombasa.
