In Kenya, the President is elected directly by registered voters through a secret ballot in a General Election held every five years on the second Tuesday of August, according to the Constitution.

"Presidential elections shall be held on the same day as a General Election of Members of Parliament, being the second Tuesday in August, in the fifth year," states Article 136(2) of the Constitution.
