Fact-checking Gachagua’s 'Ruto at 4' address

Claim: Hard-working Kenyans remit over Sh100 billion monthly to the NSSF.
Evidence: NSSF contributions for the 2024/2025 financial year were Sh84 billion according to the 2026 Economic Survey.
This translates to Sh7 billion per month.

Claim: “You all remember that on 8th August 2022, a litre of super petrol retailed at Sh159.12, while diesel retailed at Sh140.00 per litre. As we speak today, the prices stand at Sh214.03 for super petrol and Sh222.86 for diesel, representing increases of 34.05 per cent and 59.18 per cent respectively.”
Evidence: The price of super petrol and diesel did retail at the prices indicated. However, the increase on petrol should be 34.5 per cent not 34.05 per cent.

Claim: “Upon seeking a statutory review of the procurement process, Mr William Ruto and Kipchumba Murkomen deported the complainant’s local agents clearing the way for their preferred entity- China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a company that has bagged procurement tenders worth Sh1.2 trillion since 2022.”
Evidence: It is true that CRBC has bagged tenders worth Sh1.2 trillion but not since 2022. Some of the projects such as the Eastern, Southern, and Northern Bypasses as well as the Expressway in Nairobi were built between 2012 and 2022 before former president Uhuru Kenyatta left office.

Unfortunately, to date, William Ruto the Commander in Chief has failed to release the aircraft accident investigation report to the country.”
