Gachagua, opposition team rubbish Ruto, Moi deal
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua waves to his supporters after his arrival in the country from the USA on August 21, 2025.
Opposition leaders on Saturday made a triumphant entry into Embu County and dismissed the newly found unity between President William Ruto and Kanu leader Gideon Moi as inconsequential and vowed to send the Head of State home in 2027 election.
Led by Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, the leaders claimed that President Ruto was sensing defeat and that is why he had reached out to Mr Moi.
"The new unity will not take Dr Ruto anywhere, we shall defeat him hands down," said Mr Gachagua.
Speaking at Kiritiri town as they drummed up support for Mr Newton Karis, the Democratic Party (DP) candidate for Mbeere North Parliamentary seat, the leaders accused Dr Ruto of failing Kenyans and he must hang his boots and go to his Sugoi rural home.
"Dr Ruto has run down the country and everyone is suffering, Gen Zs have been abducted and others shot dead while corruption is rife in all sectors of the economy. Ruto must go," said Mr Gachagua.

"Kenyans are angry with the President and we shall ensure that they vote him out," stated Mr Gachagua.
The leaders were emphatic that they were determined to liberate Kenyans from the chains of oppression.
"We shall produce a single candidate to fight it out with Dr Ruto," added Mr Gachagua.
The DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa took issue with Dr Ruto, accusing him of trying to divide Mount Kenya region to deny the opposition victory in the next election.
He said Dr Ruto's attempt to split the Mountain will be an exercise in futility.
"Gachagua has united the Mountain and Dr Ruto will not be able to mess up with it," said Mr Wamalwa.
Martha Karua, the leader of the People's Liberation Party (PLP), urged Kenyans to reject Dr Ruto, saying his leadership is wanting.
"We are united for a common purpose to kick Dr Ruto out of power; there will be no retreat," she said.

Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji said he suffered under Dr Ruto’s leadership for opposing the abduction of young Kenyans. He added that no amount of intimidation will deter him from speaking the truth.
