The People's Party of Kenya leader Ndindi Nyoro has declared that he is qualified to become the next President.
Addressing roadsides rallies on Sunday at Kangaita and Mukinduri markets in Kirinyaga county, Mr Nyoro told area residents that he is ready to fly the flag of the joint opposition in next year’s General Election.
“I'm fit to be the President of Kenya. If the joint opposition agrees that I'm the one who will be the flag bearer to face President William Ruto, I can assure you that I will floor him,” Mr Nyoro said.
The Member of Parliament for Kiharu further said that given a chance to lead, he will transform Kenya within his first year in office.
“In my Constituency, I have ensured that life in day Junior secondary schools is good. Students pay each Sh500 fees per term and food is free. I have improved all public primary schools and the learners have a good learning environment. I'm a performer who should be given an opportunity to govern Kenya for betterment of all Kenyans,” he said.
Mr Nyoro expressed confidence that the opposition will come up with a single presidential candidate.
Mr Nyoro said President Ruto has failed Kenyans and he must go home.
“Health and education sectors are in a crisis because of Ruto's poor leadership. Ruto deserves only one term in office so that Kenyans can be free from these problems. Ruto has been unable to govern the country and we should all join hands to vote him out,” he said.
The lawmaker noted that millions of Kenyans are unable to access basic education and good healthcare because of mismanagement of public funds by the government.
“The revenue we collect is enough to make Kenyans comfortable but it is being misused by the government. Ruto has no interests of Kenyans at heart and he should be rejected,” said Mr Nyoro.
At the same time, Mr Nyoro dismissed President Ruto as a thankless leader who should not be trusted by Kenyans.
“The Mt Kenya region voted overwhelmingly for Ruto but when he took over leadership he had Rigathi Gachagua impeached. Ruto also sacked me as the chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Budget, Ruto, dealt ruthlessly with leaders from Mt Kenya region who campaigned for him day and night in 2022. Ruto is a bad leader and he should be rejected,” said Mr Nyoro.
