State of the Nation address by President Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta presented the State of the Nation address Thursday afternoon at the National Assembly chambers in Nairobi.

The President arrived at Parliament Buildings shortly after 2:30pm and was received by Deputy President William Ruto and Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Julius Karangi. before inspecting a guard of honour mounted by the Kenya Airforce.

His address at Parliament focused on the Jubilee administration's achievements in the one year it has been in office, as well as the challenges that the country has faced.

The administration made some ambitious campaign promises including the key free laptops programme for children joining primary school, free maternity care, higher economic growth and better living standards.
