Kenya Judo Federation (KJF) President Shadrack Maluki is the new head of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K).

Maluki, who is also the Africa Judo Union (AJU) chairman, polled 15 votes, beating Tennis Kenya's first vice president, Francis Mutuku, who got 12 votes.

Maluki, who was Team Kenya's head of delegation at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, takes over from Paul Tergat, who had served a full term of eight years.

Elections for other positions were ongoing by press time. The exercise is being presided over by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), led by returning officer Muthee Gakuru.

The elections had been aborted twice because of court injunctions.

However, three people were elected unopposed.

John Ogolla, who is the current Kenya Amateur Weightlifting Association (KAWA) secretary general, was elected unopposed as the new secretary general after his challenger, Kenya Table Tennis Association (KTTA) president Andrew Mudibo, was barred by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT).

SDT declared  Mudibo and KTTA executives unfit to vote.

Also going unopposed was the Kenya Cycling Federation Secretary General Charles Mose as the new deputy treasurer, as well as Male Athletes Representative, legendary distance runner Eliud Kipchoge.

Mose went through unopposed following the death of his opponent, Kenya Basketball Federation chairman Paul Otula, on May 1.
