What you need to know:

  • Second placed Kenya Police will leap frog Tusker to the top of the table if they win today.
  • Head to head record shows they have beaten Bandari twice, the dockers have won once, with three games ending in draws, in their six past meetings.

KCB coach Patrick Odhiambo has urged his players to be clinical in front of goal when they face wounded AFC Leopards in a rescheduled Football Kenya Federation Premier League match at SportPesa Arena in Muranga County today.

Limping Gor Mahia have a date with highflying Sofapaka at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos in another rescheduled encounter day.

Another tie earlier at the same venue will see Kenya Police look to go top of the table when they host Bandari

Odhiambo said AFC Leopards are still a top side and their 4-2 defeat to lowly ranked FC Talanta doesn’t mean the Big Cats will be an easy opponent.

“We all know Leopards capability and we do not doubt it, so we have to be on top of our game to register the maximum points. Of course we have to keep winning games to ensure that we remain top and clinch the title at the end of the season,” said Odhiambo.

The former Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz tactician will be banking on the team’s top scorer Francis Kahiro to demolish Leopards.

Kahiro, who has 10 goals this season, is expected to team up with Philemon Nyakwakwa upfront while James Kinyanjui and Stephen Etyang will offer support to the two strikers from the flanks.

KCB captain Michael Mutinda said they were regaining their confidence after a poor run.

“The boys have a strong desire to keep winning games. Everyone is working hard to ensure the team stays at the top.”

The bankers at one time led the league table with a nine-points. However, six draws in the last seven matches has seen them drop to the third spot on 28 points from 16 matches.

Leopards will be keen to bounce back up though all is not well at the Ingwe den.

They played FC Talanta after training only once as they were on a go slow, demanding unpaid allowances.

Ingwe have not defeated the bankers in their last three meetings, their last win coming on February 26, 2023.

Gor Mahia coach Zedekiah Otieno has a huge task of steadying the ship in the title race. Gor are nine points adrift of leaders Tusker who beat them 2-1 last weekend at Kenyatta Stadium.

Sofapaka have not lost in the last six matches as they last went down on December 1, 2023, 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks. However, they have not beaten Gor Mahia in their last seven encouners -- K’Ogalo winning thrice and four ties ending in draws.

Both Gor and Sofapaka are tied on 24 points but the latter enjoy a superior goal difference.

Second placed Kenya Police will leap frog Tusker to the top of the table if they win today.

Head to head record shows they have beaten Bandari twice, the dockers have won once, with three games ending in draws, in their six past meetings.
