Cabo Verde’s goalie Josimar José Évora Dias, better known as Vozinha – “little grandmother” in Portuguese, was 40 years and 12 days when he produced a man-of-the-match performance in Cape Verde’s shock 0-0 draw against Spain in their Group “H” opener in Atlanta on June 15.

Germany’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is appearing in his fifth World Cup after coming out of retirement to reclaim his number one position with “Die Nationalelf” at the age of 40 years and three months.

Legendary Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made his record-extending 154th international cap aged 40 as a 78th minute substitute in the co-hosts’ 2-0 Group “A” win over the Czech Republic on June 24.
