The two 2024 African Nations Championship (Chan) Group ‘A’ final matches this Sunday pitting co-hosts Kenya versus Zambia, and Morocco versus DR Congo have sold out.

Tickets for the Kenya game against Zambia were put up for sale on Monday night and within hours had all sold out.

The Chan Local Organising Committee chairman Nicholas Musonye revealed that some 27,000 tickets were put up for sale online.

The match will be held at the 48,000-seater Moi International Sports Centre from 3pm but fans will be restricted to 60 per cent of the venue capacity in line with Caf sanctions following security breaches during Kenya’s match against Morocco on August 10.

Thus a maximum of only 27,000 spectators will be granted entry into the stadium.

Thousands of fans overrun security barriers on the day Kenya played Morocco, including many without tickets, and gained access to the stadium. CAF warned Kenya of further punishment including the co-host playing their games outside the country if the security matters were not dealt with.

At the same time, Caf Disciplinary Board has imposed a fine of $50,000 (about Sh6.5million) on Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over safety and security breaches during the August 10 match.

Sunday’s sold out Group ‘A’ fixtures will determine which two teams progress to the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Harambee Stars lead the group with seven points followed by Angola (four points), Morocco and DR Congo (three points). Zambia are bottom of the group with no point from two matches.

On Thursday, Morocco will face Zambia at Nyayo National Stadium as Angola lock horns with DR Congo at Kasarani.
