Cameroon were the first African team to reach the quarter-finals of the Fifa World Cup in 1990. Four years later at the 1994 tournament in USA, they finished bottom in their group.
Senegal became the second African nation to make it to the quarter-finals in 2002. Four years later, the Teranga Lions could not even qualify for the 2006 tournament held in Germany.

Some ugly tackles threatened to ruin the game in which Morocco showed panache against a supposedly superior opponent who had crushed them 3-0 in their last World Cup meeting in 1998.
