A thank you letter to Edward Kwach: The GOAT

Kwach

In life, to be truly great, you must have a little crazy in you. The kind that dares to dream louder, laugh harder, and live fuller than the world thinks is acceptable.

The kind that marks the difference between ordinary and legendary. Edward Kwach had that kind of crazy, the kind that made him unforgettable.

I was in my early twenties when I got my shot at radio.

A man named John Wilkins took a chance on me, and soon after, I found myself co-hosting one of the biggest shows on the airwaves The Drive Show with Edward Kwach and Vipul “Doggy Dog.” Young, green, and often overwhelmed, I was walking into a world I barely understood.

But standing beside me was one of the sharpest, most compelling voices the industry has ever known. Kwach was my work “husband” for a few years.

And like any partnership worth its salt, it came with its fair share of laughter, learning, debates, and the occasional irritation, but my God, what a masterclass it was.

He was far from perfect. And that, in many ways, was part of the brilliance. He was real. Raw. Magnetic. He didn’t just do radio. He was radio.

Effortless, unpredictable, bold.

He could command a room with a single sentence. Paint pictures with his voice. Make you laugh when you wanted to cry, and challenge your thinking without you even realising it.

His artistry on air was like jazz …. spontaneous, emotional, brilliant.

He gave everything. To the mic. To the audience. To the craft.

From iconic voiceovers to unforgettable shows, Kwach poured himself into the creative industry with a kind of relentless fire that few could match.

And while the world knew the voice, I was lucky enough to know the man, and to study the art of radio standing next to one of its greatest teachers.

This is my thank you letter, Kwach.

Thank you for being kind to me when I was just finding my voice. Thank you for showing me how far authenticity can take you.

Thank you for every moment you gave to the industry, to your listeners, and to those of us who were lucky enough to share the journey with you.

You have transcended now. But your light, that spark only you had, will never fade.

It lives in every echo of your laughter, every voiceover we still hear, every young creative who dares to be bold because someone like you showed them how.

You were, and will always be, the GOAT. Your story, your madness, your magic, they won’t be forgotten.

Not by me. Not by those you moved. And not by the world you helped shape.

Travel well, my friend. And thank you.
