Authenticate all MPs’ academic certificates
In January, the government sacked 449 civil servants out of the 1,019 staff found to have used fake academic certificates to get employment.
Assistance • President William Ruto’s offer to work with Nairobi City County to improve waste management, the tarmacking of roads and installation of streetlights is great, says Paul Khaemba.”He should also assist other towns, which are struggling with similar problems, and poor drainage and insecurity to enable a 24-hour economy and attract more foreign investors.” His contact is [email protected].

Nema negligence • The President is quite right that “Nairobi shouldn’t continue to be the city in the filth”, notes Moses Kiplangat. “But as he supports Governor Johnson Sakaja to deal with environmental issues, where is Nema? Plastic bags are being sold openly as raw sewage is discharged into rivers. As we bash Sakaja, we should also hold Nema accountable.” His contact is [email protected].

Church project • Vehemently opposed to the construction of a church at State House, Nairobi, David Kigo says it will just gobble up billions in a blatant violation of the Constitution, which states that this is a secular State. “The occupant of the House on Hill should be at the forefront in defending the letter and the spirit of the supreme law of the land and not defying it.” His email address is [email protected].

MPs papers • The recent ‘Nation’ editorial on the need to authenticate the academic certificates of government employees was spot on, says Charles Imbandu. “This is a very good move. However, it should also be extended to the lawmakers. Their qualifications should be verified first to establish their levels of education before looking at the civil servants’ papers.” His email address is [email protected].

Deadly arms • While the bandits in the North Rift and other northern regions are often reported to have more sophisticated weapons than what the police carry, Evans Macharia says these are not what are surrendered whenever there is an amnesty. “They just hand in old G3s and AK47s. So, where are the more deadly firearms? This is food for thought.” His contact is [email protected].
Have a secure day, won’t you!
