Baffling • Like many other Kenyans, Francis Njuguna has been baffled by the Catholic church’s decision to return cash donations to a Nairobi church by President William Ruto and Governor Johson Sakaja. “What could have forced this? The church had only cautioned priests against letting politicians make speeches from the pulpit or even the church compound.” His contact is [email protected].

Hypocrisy • The churches’ harsh criticism of President William Ruto’s administration is “the height of hypocrisy”, remarks Dr Kennedy Mochabo. “They are the ones who made him to get elected in 2022. Let them bide their time until 2027. It’s the churches that lured voters to him. Now, they are trying to wash their hands off him as the people continue suffering.” His contact is [email protected].

Encroaching • Four years ago, J. Obo says, the National Environment Management Authority (Nema) demolished a structure near T-Mall at the junction of Langat’a Road and Mbagathi Way, Nairobi, for encroaching on a river. “Now, a new bar and restaurant named 1825, has been put up. Who approved it? Nema and Kenya National Highways Authority must take action.” His contact is [email protected].

Save hospital • The National Police Service Hospital near the Kenyatta National Hospital on the Mbagathi Way, Nairobi, was nearly complete when President Uhuru Kenyatta left office, notes David Jasondu. “Two years later, it has been left to badly deteriorate. New Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja should ensure that it is completed to serve the officers.” His contact is [email protected].

Apt reads • Going by reports on abductions and the use of technology, university don XN Iraki recommends two books by the same author. Says he: “Get George Orwell’s 1984. If possible, read it after his other famous book, the Animal Farm.” This technology, he adds, would be very useful in catching cheaters in the KCSE examination. “Best wishes to all the candidates!” His contact is [email protected].

Have an insightful day, won’t you!
