Harambee Stars can still do better

Contempt • Familiarity breeds contempt, says Joe Ngige Mungai, on the hostility to President William Ruto’s visits. “Dissenting voices continue to multiply. He should lie low for a few weeks, and people will begin to miss him, but he must advise close associates such as National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah to stop picking unnecessary fights!” His contact is mungai6969@gmail.com.

Populism • Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, Taabu Tele notes, “has joined the populist party, ordering head teachers to release exam certificates withheld over fee arrears. He adds: “Just like the churches’ hot air threats to deny politicians the pulpit for campaigns, the ministry is shamelessly breathing fire it has no intention or the means to put out.” His contact is taabu.tele@mail.com.

Greed • Safaricom’s popular M-Pesa money transfer, which has been a great service to Kenyans, is beginning to be driven more by greed than anything else, says Daniel Onyiego. “It’s no longer an innovation but has now become a bottleneck. Tell me why I should be charged Sh27 to move a little money within its very platform. This is not okay.” His email address is danielonyiego657@gmail.com.

Relief • The public-spirited fellow who raised the alarm about blocked drainage at Nairobi’s Mbagathi Road Primary School is happy the children have been saved from the health hazard. Says Job Otieno: “I’m grateful to Watchie for highlighting it. City County staff unblocked the sewage and built a new drainage system. Now, they should clear the soil and rocks at the gate.” (Jobo2021@yahoo.com)

Encouraging • Despite the national football team Harambee Stars losing its World Cup qualifying match 1-2 at home to Gabon, the huge crowd, including President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi, was quite encouraging, says Jim Webo. “New coach Benni McCarthy has brought a new momentum that should be stepped up. The team can do much better.”
Have a victorious day, won’t you!
