Shame • When the Head of State and symbol of national sovereignty and unity, President William Ruto, goes on his car’s rooftop to spew expletives at opposition leaders, calling them brainless murderers, rapists, plump “air-polluters”, and land grabbers, something is really wrong, says W. Kimariech. “Does he realise that by doing this, he’s actually shaming the nation?” His contact is [email protected].

Laudable The #Nikokadi slogan to get youth to register as voters has worked magic in a few days, says Russel Neri. “The mobilisers should prevent political traders, fence sitters and gatekeepers from hijacking the progressive move. This has shown that we don’t need high budget allocations and committees to conduct civic education. The will and passion are laudable.” His contact is [email protected].

Disgrace • The Teachers Service Commission is facing a Sh1.4 billion shortfall in the teachers’ medical cover, and is now warning that some hospitals could start turning away patients as early as May, says Faith Moraa. “It’s a disgrace that healthcare, which is the most important aspect in people’s lives, including teachers, is being ignored.” Her email address is [email protected].

Heartless • Watching the conduct of politicians at public functions, Evans Macharia Mwangi is now quite convinced that they are “so heartless”. Says he: “You only need to listen to them speaking at funerals. They bring their dirty politics into other people’s grief and shamelessly dance on their dead relatives’ graves. Shame on you all, politicians!” His email address is [email protected].

Precedent • The capture by the US military of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and the attack on Iran that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were acts of aggression and invasions of other sovereign states, says Newton Tonui. “They have set a bad precedent for other nations with ill intentions. The mistakes of the 20th century are being repeated.” His contact is [email protected].
