ODM collapse • The once-formidable ODM is now split down the middle, threatening to bury the late party founder Raila Odinga’s legacy, remarks Dave Tumbula. “Can’t the rival politicians focus on uniting the party first before seeking deals with external suitors? At this rate, the party will be a pale shadow of its former self as the country goes into next year’s elections. The two ODM factions are its path to oblivion.”

Delayed dividends • Some firms listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange have formed a habit of delaying the payment of dividends to shareholders, says James Kihali. “They will declare a dividend but say it shall be paid subject to approval. If they can announce it, why is the payment date an issue? Can the Capital Markets Authority look into these tricks?” His contact is [email protected].

Home invasion • On Friday, March 6, Charles Jowi reports, some unruly workers contracted by Kenya Power invaded his home near Kisumu City and cut down 25 mature trees. “The trees were inside his compound, over 15 metres away from the power line outside his fence. They jumped over the fence and destroyed trees that were home to several local and exotic birds.” His contact is [email protected].

Chapo at State House • Towering Mozambican President Daniel Chapo’s visit to State House, Nairobi, has really fascinated Githuku Mungai, not only because of his huge size, but also the echo of a delicacy. Says he: “He’s a giant who has a well-built physique. He probably had a chance to eat some chapati (chapo) at State House with President William Ruto.” His contact is [email protected].

Shameful politics • As political leaders engage in their ugly exchanges in public, do they ever think of the likely adverse impact of this on the innocent children? asks John Mukiri. “The media is awash with the politicians’ bitter words. The leaders should think before throwing epithets at one another.” His contact is [email protected].
