Samuel Muraya, alias DJ Mo, is one of Kenya’s most recognisable gospel DJs. Mo’s name has echoed through radio studios, TV screens, and concert stages for years. On the flipside, ‘scandal’ would easily qualify as his second name, and the man doesn’t deny it.

I am obsessed with buying white sneakers, which is why I have over 200 pairs.
I find it strange when I go months without trending online. Either bloggers are tired of me, or they're lacking in creativity.

There have been so many scandals surrounding my relationships with different women, but I no longer feel the need to justify any of them, even though some of the stories were outright lies.

However, there was one story that truly rattled me. It trended for two months. A blogger published claims about my alleged affair with another woman. When it was published, I was out with my wife.

My phone started buzzing nonstop. Then hers did too. Thankfully, I had already told my wife about the story days earlier.

The blogger had reached out to me for a comment, but I never bothered to respond. I felt no need to.

I remember the day we went to Azure to hang out. It was our favourite place to hang out. When the scandal broke, I was completely disoriented; it felt as if the ground had shifted beneath my feet. I was in a very bad mental state, so my wife and I checked into a hotel.

I couldn’t think straight. I lost my appetite and a lot of weight, and there were many times when I didn't bother to take a bath. Sometimes I would go two days without showering.

Another scandal that hit me so hard was when I separated from my wife. Those were indeed dark times for me, and for our children, too, with whom I have a very strong bond.

But the silliest rumour of all is that I have children with different women. I always say that if any woman claims to have had a child with me, she should come forward. No one has come forward to this day, yet bloggers still treat this as news.

Having my name and reputation dragged through countless scandals as a celebrity taught me one thing: how to stay calm. As you may have noticed, I never rush to respond when I’m caught up in a scandal. I didn’t feel the need to explain myself or set the record straight, even when the facts were twisted or completely misconstrued.

That was the most painful part. Choosing silence. Not because I had nothing to say, but because I couldn't justify myself to the public. It felt as though I had already been judged and found guilty. Some of those scandals were the result of blackmail when I didn’t yield to certain demands.

I love my wife dearly. I know I’ve made her cry so many times. I’ve broken her heart over and over again. I’ve put her through pain that she never deserved. And yet she has stuck with me.

If I were asked to pay her bride price twice, I wouldn't hesitate — even if it meant holding a fundraiser.
