The US-based Global Peace Foundation has appointed its Kenyan Director, Daniel Juma Omondi, to be the representative for the African continent.

This comes just a week after Mr Omondi was featured among the top 50 CEOs by Africapitol.

In a statement sent to the media houses, the global peace organisation stated that Omondi’s appointment took effect from May 1, 2025.

“The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) has announced the appointment of its Kenya Country Director, Mr. Daniel Juma Omondi, as the new Regional Representative for Africa, effective 1st May 2025,” stated the statement.

The statement further indicated, “Mr Omondi will oversee GPF field affiliates and initiatives across the continent while continuing his role as Country Director for GPF Kenya.

This appointment is expected to significantly advance the organisation’s strategic development of peacebuilding efforts in the region.”

Mr Omondi takes over the peace-building initiative of the continent at a time when many stakeholders are grappling with conflicts in different African states.

In Sudan, conflicts have led to the death of hundreds of people while thousands have been displaced; South Sudan and the Republic of Congo are facing similar challenges.

Mr Omondi, in response to the appointment which was sent from the organisation’s office in Washington, expressed gratitude and commitment to the new role.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Global Peace Foundation Chairman, Dr. Hyun Jin Preston, and President Jim Flynn for their trust in me for this vital role,” he stated.

“Peace is fundamental for any state to progress economically; it is an inclusive work that I shall seek to incorporate heads of state as well as religious leaders,” he added.

Other than the country’s director for the global peace organisation, Omondi threw his hat in the Ugenya parliamentary seat in 2019 during a by-election; he lost to the current lawmaker, David Ochieng.
