Kenya’s femicide crisis: Most women killed by husbands, boyfriends

Amidst a dark cloud of escalating gender-based violence and a nationwide outcry over the killings of women and children, the Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) has published a disturbing report.
The report revealed that 77 per cent of murders of women were carried out by people with whom the victim may have had an intimate relationship, or who they may have loved or trusted. Husbands accounted for 40.15 per cent of the perpetrators, followed by boyfriends at 32 per cent. Shockingly, over 70 per cent of these murders took place in the homes of the victims.
