Sacking of media ‘expert’ thwarted

A senior official got a rude shock after his attempt to sack a staff member was thwarted by an influential individual. The man complained that the communication ‘expert’, who was plucked from mainstream media to boost the image of his office, has become a liability.

The woman is said to have brought disrepute to the man’s office through her erratic behaviour, frequent late-night partying, public intoxication, and reporting late for work due to overindulgence. She is also reported to display her “powerful” job card whenever caught on the wrong side of the law, causing further negative publicity for the office.

Mistress or merit? Party leader in a fix

A party leader has found himself in a catch-22 over the fight for the party’s ticket for the 2027 gubernatorial race, pitting his alleged mistress against two male candidates. There are already loud murmurs that the mistress, who is an elected legislator, will carry the party flag.

The two male candidates are also elected legislators with considerable experience and popularity. One party member was overheard confiding to a colleague in the VIP lift at Bunge Towers that it is already a done deal—the woman is the preferred candidate.

Concern over puffing county boss

Aides of a top county official are alarmed by his growing dependency on an illegal substance, which he reportedly takes before public events to appear bold and dramatic on stage.

The politician, introduced to a stronger version of the drug by a close friend, now insists on using it before every major appearance. The new variant is said to be smuggled from a neighbouring country and is known for its harmful effects on young users. His handlers now fear the drug may be affecting his mental stability and worry it could soon spark a public scandal if left unchecked.

Office War: Bitter exit leaves foul stench

A senior State officer got a rude shock after discovering that the office he was set to inherit in the city had been defiled by a bitter predecessor who was unceremoniously kicked out of office.

Talk of Town has learnt that the predecessor allegedly sent goons posing as movers to collect remaining belongings. But their real mission, it seems, was far more sinister — to ensure the office reeked to high heaven. According to our little bird, the so-called movers did not disappoint. They left small mounds of faeces in every corner of the once-swanky office, turning it into a stinking mess.

MP in panic mode over kickbacks

A lawmaker is in panic mode after the state launched investigations into how dubious hospitals raked in billions of taxpayers’ money from the defunct NHIF. The lawmaker is said to have facilitated payments to some of the hospitals in return for kickbacks, pocketing billions of shillings.

His former committee colleagues have vowed to expose him by divulging more information, claiming he was “eating alone” and that it is now their time to hit back. Our mole has reliably been informed that it’s just a matter of time before investigative agencies pounce on the man, whose latest German machine is also believed to be the proceeds of crime.

Combative senator gets a dressing down

A senator received a tongue-lashing from a powerful individual during a visit by the leaders to the House on the Hill. The outspoken legislator is said to have expressed his frustration at how “original” loyalists in his region had been ignored since the formation of the broad-based government, despite their political support in the run-up to the 2022 polls.

His rage, however, was met with a sharp rebuke and a warning that he has no powers to lecture anyone and must respect authority. The lawmaker was categorically told that if he is unhappy with the current arrangement, he can relinquish his position in Parliament to an ODM member.
