A delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will arrive in Kenya on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 to conduct a major inspection of the country’s facilities that will be used for co-hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final with Uganda and Tanzania.
The CAF delegation will also inspect facilities for the tournament in Uganda and Tanzania.
The three East African countries will co-host the 36th Afcon edition from June 19 to July 17, 2027.

On Monday, Nicholas Musonye, who is chairman of Kenya’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) for 2027 Afcon, said the CAF delegation will arrive in Kenya tomorrow and will assess the tournament’s facilities in Kenya on Thursday and Friday.
The focus of the inspection tour will be infrastructure and hospitals.
“We are confident that we are okay in our preparations,” Musonye told Nation Sport on phone on Monday. On infrastructure, the inspectors will visit all the stadiums and training venues that Kenya has earmarked for the tournament, as well as the hotels and airport.
Musonye said that the CAF inspectors will also tour Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret. He noted that Kenya had decided to reinstate the facility in its plans to co-host the tournament as an alternative venue.

“We want to have as many venues as possible not just for Afcon, but also for use beyond the tournament,” Musonye said.
“We have enough facilities when it comes to hotels, airports and even hospitals. Even CAF themselves have no issue with that,” he noted.
The 48,000-seater Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani and the 60,000-seater Talanta Sports City are the tournament’s match venues in Kenya. The training grounds are Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nyayo National Stadium, Police Sacco Stadium, MISC Kasarani Annex “A” and “B”, Kenya Academy of Sports “A” and “B”, Kenya Utalii Sports Ground and Talanta Sports City Annex 1, 2 and 3, and Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu. “Today, we held a meeting with the Pamoja Afcon Oversight Committee to review our progress and preparations for the TotalEnergies Afcon Pamoja 2027. This week, we will also host a CAF delegation for an inspection tour to assess our progress as we gear up for the continent’s biggest football showpiece. The work continues. Following its February inspection tour, which revealed that none of the proposed venues in all the countries met the required standards to host the tournament, CAF outlined key targets that were to be achieved ahead of this week’s assessment. On match venues, CAF stated a minimum of 80 per cent physical completion was to be achieved. CAF has set a strict deadline of January 2027 for all the match venues and training grounds across the three countries to be fully operational.
