FKF county results shape up national elections contest

What you need to know:

  • In the neighbouring Bungoma County, Dennis Nyongesa bagged 28 votes to become the new chairman beating Moses Kubal Mbayia who managed a paltry two votes.
  • The 48 county chairman will be among the 94 delegates who will elect the National Executive Committee members on December 7.

Going by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) county election results on Thursday, the national  polls set for December 7 could be a close affair.

Results showed that candidates who were supporting current FKF President Nick Mwendwa, who is the running mate to Doris Petra, lost in Busia, Kakamega, Migori, Kisumu, Kiambu, Murang’a, Garissa, Vihiga, Meru and Kwale counties.

The polls went well in all counties except Turkana where the exercise failed take place because materials were not transported in good time due to floods.

In Elgeyo Marakwet County, Boaz Kaino was elected chairman with 11 votes, beating Hosea Kiptui, who bagged one vote. The county had 15 registered voters.

In Narok County, Peter Delemare scooped seven votes to emerge the winner against Francisco Kuntai who garnered four.

Swaleh Mohamed bagged Lamu chairmanship with 32 votes as his opponent Ali Adi got only four votes.

In Kisii, all officials, were re-elected.The elections were conducted at the Ogembo Social Hall in Bomachoge Chache Constituency.

Jezreel Mbegera was elected chairman with 17 votes. He beat his only challenger, retired chief Yobes Mose, who garnered 14 votes.

Evans Mageka was elected as the Secretary-General. Mageka got 19 votes while his challenger Evans Akang’a got 11.

Florence Nyamute was elected the Women’s Representative while Dominic Makori will represent Youth Affairs. 
James Ayienda will serve as treasurer.

In neighbouring Migori County, Bernard Odongo successfully wrested the chairman’s seat from incumbent Paul Migwambo. Odongo bagged 27 votes while Migwambo garnered 24.

Kakamega and Vihiga Counties will have new office bearers  after Jeff Mudembei and Vihiga Queens CEO Michael Senelwa won the chairmanship respectively.

In Trans Nzoia, Isaac Munene dislodged incumbent and seasoned football administrator Francis Mbayakula. Munene is the chairman of FKF Division Two side Bwake FC.

Congo Boys chairman Alamin Ahmed emerged the winner in Mombasa County during the elections held peacefully at Shanzu Teachers Training College.

Alamin toegether with his running mate Betty Kerubo, garnered 26 votes against former chairperson Lilian Nandundu and Martin Maithya, who got 22 votes with Salim Ali and Charles Osea receiving eight votes.

Stephen Mureithi is the new secretary after securing 36 votes, beating his two rivals, former holder Mahfudh Omar and Mohamed Salmin, who garnered 18 and two votes respectively.

The 48 county chairman will be among the 94 delegates who will elect the National Executive Committee members on December 7.
