Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo’s succession case has opened a window into his business empire, financial obligations and the defendants he left behind, with court papers placing his disclosed estate at Sh1 billion against liabilities of Sh3.98 billion.
The documents also lists his major company interests and dozens of creditor claims and 32 beneficiaries, including three widows and 29 children.
Sixteen children are listed under the three widows, Anne Kanini Nzyoka, Christine Nyokabi Kimani and Anne Lanoi Pertet, while mothers of the 13 other children are not disclosed in the court papers.

The figures are contained in a succession case filed at the High Court in Nairobi by his three widows, who seek authority to administer his estate.
Jirongo died intestate on December 13, 2025, after a road crash on the Nairobi-Naivasha Road, according to the affidavit supporting the petition.
The estate papers list 39 liabilities totalling Sh3.98 billion, ranging from unpaid staff salaries and bank debt to large personal and business claims.
The largest listed debt is Sh800 million owed to a creditor identified as Sundip, followed by Sh450 million for the purchase of Bethlehem Bisil land and Sh350 million each attributed to persons identified as Atul and Theon Ali.
The schedule also lists Sh250 million owed to GTM, Sh200 million each to Sanjay, Jonathan Jackson and the Amayo Family, and Sh163 million to Khaniri.
Other claims include Sh104 million to Rachier, Sh100 million each to Koyoko and Domenic, Sh69 million to Emris and Sh60 million to Chege & Group.
The list further includes Sh52.95 million owed to Stanbic Bank, and Sh50 million each to persons named as Atwoli and Sam Nyamweya and Sh25 million to Mama Shiro.
The liabilities schedule includes Sh39.7 million in staff salaries for December 2025, Sh37 million to Dayton Valuers and Sh25 million to Mama Shiro.
It also lists Sh18 million to Nyaoga, Sh15 million to Asanyo, Sh13 million to Zizi-Tickets, Sh12 million to Anne Lanoi, Sh11.5 million to Nyongesa and smaller claims.
The family has valued the disclosed assets at Sh1 billion, comprising 350,000 shares in Kuza Farms & Allied Limited, one share in Sololo Outlets Limited and a 60 per cent interest in Offshore Trading Company Limited.
The latter interest is stated to be held in trust by Swift Distributors Limited. The assets also include motor vehicle KBQ and one share in Kenagri Products Limited.
A Companies Registry letter dated August 19, 2011, included in the papers, records Jirongo as holding 350,000 of Kuza Farms' 500,000 ordinary shares.

The petitioners are Anne Kanini Nzyoka, 63, Christine Nyokabi Kimani, 59, and Anne Lanoi Pertet, 57. They ask to administer the estate jointly.
“We will faithfully administer according to law all the estate which by law devolves upon and vests in his personal representative. We will render a just and true account of such estate whenever required by this court and deliver up the said grant,” they say.
The petition says Jirongo died without a will and that the three women are applying in their capacity as his wives.
The papers list children under each of the three households and a separate category of other beneficiaries, with several minors identified.
Ms Kanini is listed with three children, Ms Nyokabi four and Ms Pertet six children. The affidavit records one daughter, Lorraine Chelangat Jirongo, as deceased.
The documents do not expressly classify the children in the separate category as having been born outside marriage. The beneficiaries have signed consent supporting the three widows' application. The consent states that they are entitled to apply “in equality with or priority to apply”.
Two proposed sureties, Fred Amayo and Micah Kigen, each state that their net worth after liabilities is at least Sh500 million.
They jointly offer security of Sh1 billion for the intended administrators, according to their affidavit.

Jirongo rose to national prominence in the early 1990s as leader of Youth for KANU '92, which campaigned for the late President Daniel arap Moi during the first multiparty elections. He later served as Lugari MP from 1997 to 2002 and 2007 to 2013, and as Minister for Rural Development in 2002.
In 2017, the High Court declared him bankrupt after finding he could not pay Sh700 million owed to eight companies. The order followed a dispute involving businessman Sammy Kogo and properties used as security for a National Bank loan.
The succession case places his disclosed holdings, debts and family structure before the High Court as the three widows seek formal authority to administer the estate.
