Azimio began reserving a succession of Ukombozi-related names in March 2025, including Chama Cha Ukombozi, Ukombozi Freedom Party, Ukombozi Freedom Front and Ukombozi Alliance.
A 90-day reservation gave Senator Edwin Sifuna’s allies an early claim to “Ukombozi” — but they failed to preserve it.
That lapse opened the door for former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka’s camp to pursue the name through a separate series of applications, eventually settling on The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA).
