The character of Mr Sossion that Kenyans had become accustomed to was the suit-clad, fire-breathing unionist.
The one in tight jeans, sporting an artificial hairline and clad in a brown jacket was considered a deviation.
The jokes stuck like black on tar. This was after former Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion, who will be 70 in three years, ventured out last weekend looking like he had made practical use of the subjects he used to teach.
Between 1993 and 2000, Mr Sossion taught chemistry and agriculture at Tenwek Boys in Bomet County. He was also the school’s drama patron at some point and even held the position of chairman of the Rift Valley Provincial Schools Drama Association.
